What it is: The JB Raised Steering Bracket is designed to work on the Dana 30 "uni-bearing" style front axle, commonly found on the 87-95 Jeep Wrangler YJ. What started as a solution to provide crossover steering on an S-10 SFA conversion has been refined and improved to become the most economical solution for providing true "bolt-on" crossover steering on the Jeep YJ. (Drilling and tapping 3 holes required) About the bracket: The main bracket and tie rod "lug" are laser cut for accuracy. They are made of 1/4" and 3/4" (respectively) steel. The other gussets and mounting flats are made from 1/4" steel flat that is either 1-1/4" or 1-1/2" wide depending on the location. The bracket is jig assembled for consistency, and then fully MIG welded for strength. The tie rod "lug" is machined to the proper taper to accept the Jeep tie rod end. The hardware supplied consists of (2) - 12mm x 90mm / grade 10.9 bolts and (3) 1/2" x 1" long grade 8 bolts with grade 8 washers. The two metric bolts are the same hardness as the factory ones they replace and approximately 1/4" longer to maintain proper thread engagement. The Drag Link: The stock YJ drag link will be too short to reconnect to the JB-RSB after installation. A new drag link can be assembled from OEM parts which is detailed in the instructions. |
