The JB
Raised Steering Bracket is designed to work with 87 to 95
Jeep Wranglers that have been lifted with a spring over
conversion. This bolt-on bracket is designed to be used
on the stock Dana 30 axle with the stock pitman arm on
either power or manual steering. When finished it will
bring the alignment of the drag link and axle closer to
parallel, which will greatly reduce bump steer. The stock
drag link will need to be lengthened to connect to the
JB-RSB. This job can easily done with the included
instructions or one can be purchased separately through
www.JB4x4.com The only extra work to the installation, is drilling and tapping three holes in the top of the steering knuckle to properly fasten the bracket. It also retains the use of the stock styled tie rod end. |
||||
About the Bracket: |
||||
| The main bracket
and tie rod "lug" are laser cut for accuracy. They are
made of 1/4" and 3/4" (respectively) steel. The other
gussets and mounting flats are made from 1/4" steel flat
that is either 1-1/4" or 1-1/2" wide depending on the
location. The bracket is jig assembled for consistency,
and then fully MIG welded for strength. The tie rod "lug"
is machined to the proper taper to accept the Jeep tie
rod end. The hardware supplied consists of (2) - 12mm x
90mm / grade 10.9 bolts and (3) 1/2" x 1" long grade 8
bolts with grade 8 washers. The two metric bolts are the
same hardness as the factory ones they replace and
approximately 1/4" longer to maintain proper thread
engagement. |

History: |
||||
| The JB Raised Steering Bracket was the answer to my steering problems on my GMC S-15 after I did a front axle conversion with a Dana 30. I didn't want to spend $500 to $600 for a steering system when I had the ability to design and build one myself. The design has held up very well considering it was pushing around 35x12.50's with a front locker in the rocks. The bracket I am selling now was refined to better fit the Jeep YJ with a spring over using the stock springs (my wife drives a YJ, with the JB Raised Steering Bracket) The drag link is almost parallel to the ground and the steering has little or no bump steer. I feel the JB Raised Steering Bracket has had plenty of real world testing, and figured more people could use an economical steering solution for their sprung over Jeeps. | ||||

About the Drag Link: |
||||
| After installation of the JB Raised Steering Bracket the stock YJ drag link will be about 2" to short. The extended drag link I sell starts as a new YJ drag link that is cut and extended, using a piece of solid 5/8" round stock. This provides you with the proper threads for the YJ tierod ends and the stock clamp styled retainers (no jam nuts to work loose). We have found this to be the most economical and practical way to finish off the installation. The final piece is ready to "bolt in". For those of you with welding skills, the measurements are included with the instructions for the JB Raised Steering Bracket. | ||||
Warranty and Product Disclaimer While I fully believe that you can not break the JB Raised Steering Bracket, there are the a lot of variables associated with the sport of four wheeling.
